Exciting!! I did mine in the OR, and after graduation was an OR nurse for five years. However there are just so many amazing places you could go, I don't think I could even begin to try to suggest just one! But that's the awesome part about nursing, I've been a nurse for 8 years and I'm making my 2nd big focus switch, going to the ICU in January. Lots of options!!

Emergency Room! You get to see a little bit over everything - OB, Peds (if it's an all-ages ER), oncology, orthopedics, nephrology, respiratory, rehab, geriatrics, psych, post-op... But also keep in mind that if you don't get the preceptorship you want, it can still work for good. My program had so many students and not everyone got the slot that they wanted. I ended up doing a renal/dialysis unit, which was not my first choice. However, it turned out to be a great experience. I'm not doing anything related to renal now, but my first job in the ER, the reason why the director decided to interview me (they normally didn't take new grads) was because I'd done a preceptorship on renal/dialysis, which was where she'd done hers. So you never know!

I really want to say OB! My sister works in the ICU and she loves it (for the most part). Good luck deciding - hopefully you have a sense of the direction you want to go in!
